Categories & Layout
Organise your menu into categories that customers browse on your storefront. Categories control the structure, ordering, and visual presentation of your menu.
Creating categories
- Go to Menu Settings in the admin sidebar.
- Click Add Category.
- Enter the category name (e.g. "Mains", "Appetizers", "Drinks") and optional image.
- The category slug is auto-generated from the name.
- Drag categories to reorder them — this exact order is reflected on the storefront menu.

Category properties
- Name — Displayed as the section header on the menu page.
- Image — Optional hero image shown at the top of the category section.
- Display style — Control how items in this category are rendered (grid vs. list).
- Active/Inactive — Toggle categories on or off without deleting them.
- Sort order — Drag to reposition within the menu.
Visibility schedules
Categories can be set to show only during certain times. This is perfect for:
- "Lunch Specials" visible only from 11am–2pm.
- "Late Night Bites" visible after 9pm.
- "Weekend Brunch" visible only on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Configure the schedule per category in the category edit form. Outside the scheduled window, the category and its items are hidden from customers.
Items in multiple categories
A single menu item can appear in multiple categories. The item-to-category mapping also supports price overrides — so the same item can have different prices in different categories (e.g. a drink could be $3 in "Drinks" but $2 in a "Happy Hour" category).
