Review SMS & Email Templates

    Customise the messages sent to customers when requesting reviews.

    SMS template

    The SMS template is configured directly in the Review Settings page. It's a plain text message with variable placeholders that are replaced at send time:

    • {{customer_name}} — Customer's first name.
    • {{restaurant_name}} — Your restaurant's name.
    • {{review_link}} — Direct link to your Google review page.

    Default template:

    Hi {{customer_name}}! Thanks for ordering from {{restaurant_name}}. We'd love to hear about your experience! Leave us a review: {{review_link}}

    Email template

    For email review requests, you select a template from the Message Templates system. This allows you to create rich HTML emails with your branding using the visual email editor.

    1. Go to Marketing → Templates and create an email template.
    2. Design your review request email with your branding, a friendly message, and a prominent review button.
    3. Use the same variables: {{customer_name}}, {{restaurant_name}}, {{review_link}}.
    4. Go to Reviews settings and select this template from the email template dropdown.

    Email delivery

    Review emails are sent via SendGrid — the same provider used for marketing campaigns. If no custom email template is selected, a default branded email is sent as a fallback.

    Tip: Keep review request messages short and friendly. A simple "How was your order?" with a prominent review button performs better than lengthy messages. Personalising with the customer's name increases response rates.
